The Indonesian Central Government: A Timeline of Presidential Responses

March 19, 2020: “Indonesia is finally listening to the World Health Organization's call for extensive Covid-19 testing in its territory, which has quickly become a hotbed for the pandemic in Southeast Asia...At Thursday's meeting, Jokowi seemed to have finally come to terms with the fact that Indonesia is now playing catch up with a pandemic” (Jokowi Calls for Massive Covid-19 Rapid Testing in Indonesia as Market, Rupiah Are Routed, 2020).

Although Indonesia did not have any cases of the COVID-19 until March 2nd, Indonesia had more time to prepare and prevent problems related to the COVID-19. Readers should notice the lack of action during the absent time in the timeline. Instead, Indonesia had to “play catch up" during this timeline.

The following is a timeline of significant events from January 1st, 2020 to May 1st, 2020. It captures the responses, actions, and reactions to the COVID-19 pandemic from current President Joko Widodo and the Indonesian central government.
