Lafayette at Large

Lafayette at Large

Lafayette at Large is a community game and digital humanities project centered around exploring, documenting, and sharing our environments. The game is a BINGO-style game crossed with a scavenger hunt, where each square is an urban design element to be found locally and photographed. To play, download a game card take a walk around your town and look for the items in that week's game card. Take a photo of an item to complete the square, and enter the raffle by completing a row. When you complete a row, upload your photos to twitter, instagram, or directly to us using our web form. Tag your social media posts with #LafAtLarge so that we can see and count your entry!

Inspired by The 99% Invisible City: A Field Guide to the Hidden World of Everyday Design by Roman Mars and Kurt Kohstedt, the Lafayette College Libraries invite you to take us on a tour of your town and win prizes! Play the game, publish your photos, and produce a short audio walking tour of your town for chances to win gift cards, challenge coins, and signed books!

The game will run for four weeks, starting January 4th and closing February 3rd. Each week will have a new card (and new items!) and prize raffles, with a grand prize draws taking place at the end!

The 99% Invisible City is available through the libraries as an ebook and audiobook.

Special thank you to Roman Mars, Kurt Kohlstedt, and their publication team for their great book and their permission to remix their work in this way.
