Queer Caribbeans: Art and Activism

Acknowledgments

This project is based on the artwork of Nadia Huggins and Mia Vasquez, the creators of the Silence=Death logo, and all the LGBTQIA+ activists, especially Black and Latina Trans women, who have dedicated their time to their communities. My freedom as a Queer person would not be possible if it were not for them. I want to thank all of them for showcasing their art to the world and being community leaders. I want to thank Nadia Huggins, who gave me written permission to present her images. Although I could not contact Mia Vasquez personally, I also thank her for publishing her revolutionary Audiovisual Cuir project, showing representation in our community as queer Dominicans.

I want to thank Angela Perkins, Lafayette College's DHSS Program director, who believed in my success from the first day. I also want to thank Janna Avon, a digital initiatives librarian at Lafayette college, who helped me navigate the Scalar platform and brought my project to life. Finally, I want to acknowledge and thank my peers, Imane Halal, Natalia Baez, and Jose Bencosme Peña, for always supporting me. A community that I am forever grateful for.
