From Resistance to Diplomacy: Steel Pan & National Anthems

National Anthems

Alas, I present to you national anthems played on the Steel Pan. This project was fueled by the concepts discussed earlier, wanting to create a series that supports diplomacy, innovation, and improvisation of the art form which the instrument is revered for. All of these countries have a special connection to me during my life exploring the world.

In these recordings, you hear the raw audio of my Steel Pan playing. For the national anthems I knew, I naturally incorporated my own twist, sense of rhythm and emotion in the rendition. I recorded all of these anthems in the same day and I included a video of the Brazilian national anthem.

1) For The First Time I Was In Europe: Italy.
2) For the Second Time I Was In Europe: Switzerland.
3) For the Country Where I Live: United States of America.
4) For the Best 60 Hours of My Life: Türkiye.
5) For A South American Region That I Will Go: Brazil.
6) For The African Country That I Have Experienced A Second Home: Senegal.

7) For The West Indian Country That This Beautiful Instrument Came From : Trinidad & Tobago.

These are but simple and quick adaptations with no intense intent to create an arrangement of any of these anthems. That is the next step, and that is where we will end for now! Thank you!
